We are calling on the UK government, the EU, the Maltese government, the United States, the UN and international partners to take urgent action to secure Rami’s release after nine years of detention, abuse and separation from his British family.
His wife, Mira and their three children, Noor, Saria and Ali, have made an emotional appeal to lawmakers and diplomats around the world to do more, and have issued a direct call to the public to stand with them.
Mira, a British citizen who lives in west London, said: “For nearly eight years, our family has been living a nightmare. We have tried everything behind the scenes, but it has not brought Rami home. That is why we are now asking the world to listen, to understand what he has been through, and to help us bring Rami home.”
The campaign launches with a new website which sets out Rami Naimi’s story in full, detailing his abduction, detention, torture and inhumane and unust treatment, and the impact this has had on him and his family.

Noor, Saria and Ali said in a joint statement: “We have grown up without our father for nine years. We have missed moments we will never get back. We want the world to know what he’s been through. We just want him home.”
Lead counsel, Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, representing the family along with a team from Doughty Street Chambers said: “This campaign marks a significant moment in the case. After years of private efforts, using the diplomatic channels available to us, the family have had to take the unenviable decision to ramp up the pressure. They know the risks of doing so. But they know only too well the risks of not doing so.
“Rami’s case is one of abduction, torture and detention in a country which the world continues to laud as a safe place to visit. His experience, and the torment his family have been put through, should sound warning bells around the world.
“Mira and her family are now seeking public support to help secure Rami’s release. International awareness and pressure will be critical. By applying global pressure, we hope we can #BringRamiHome.”
Mira said: “We are asking people everywhere to take a moment to read Rami’s story, to understand what has happened to my husband and to stand with us. Together, we hope we can bring him home.”
